Which bulbs should I choose?
When purchasing your festoon strings you must choose the right bulbs for your installation.
One of the most frequent questions we get asked is, ‘Which bulb is the best?’
Of course, we don't have a straight answer. It depends on what you are looking to achieve with your display. Here are a few things that might help you decide.
If you are looking at the 50cm spacing festoon rather than the 1m spacing festoon you will have double the amount of bulbs. It sounds obvious to say but this is key to the type of bulb you are looking for.
The brightest bulbs that we sell are 4-watt LEDs of various shapes and sizes. Our 4W LED Golf Ball has a lumen output of 470 lumen.
(Note - Lumens measure how much light you are getting from your bulb)
Similarly, the 2W LED Golf Ball has a lumen output of 250 lumens; just over half of the 4W.
In short, if you are wary of ‘Looking like Blackpool Illuminations’ the 4W Golf Ball with our 50cm spaced festoon might not be the best combination. However, if the festoon lights are the sole source of light around your space, this bulb may be one to consider.
You can play around with the combinations of 1m & 50 cm spaced lights to get what you desire.
